The way to Riad Maizie

Riad Maizie is a twelve-minute walk from Djemaa el Fna, and about five minutes from the nearest taxi point, Ben Saleh Square.

From the main square you can amble to Riad Maizie via the jewellery, magic, metal and leatherwork souks or you can walk the more straightforward route along Derb Dabachi.

Tucked into sideshoots off the main routes there are fascinations galore, from quaint musuems, tailor’s shops where they will copy a favourite garment very cheaply, tea and coffee rooms, restaurants both chic and traditional, hammams where you can be lightly flayed and massaged by the Marakchi equivalent of Sumo wrestlers, any number of workshops where young men stitch leather, turn cedar wood to make chess pieces or mend kettles and pots.
